| A Note From Karen
Saying Hello to ’09:
Welcoming the New Year comes with mixed emotions knowing that it’s going to get more intense. Breakdowns both small and large will continue to shadow us. I know first hand, as most of you do, that change is the only constant we can count on.
I’ve had to re-acquaint myself with tried and true constants and treasured principles that hold true for all of us whether we are going through a cyclical change or one that is structural…or both at the same time as most of us are now.
What I’ve observed over the years is that folks who are in motion, with a forward-looking momentum, are going to thrive in these times. Standing still or putting your head in the sand is unacceptable. Don’t get lost grieving for past follies because what we focus on is what we get more of.
Our new president embodies the ability to harness the energy of momentum. Not only did he spearhead one of the most energized presidential campaigns of all times, but once in office, he is now still riding the wave of “Yes We Can!”
He will likely be remembered as one of the most engaged and active presidents during the first month of office—and he is continually in motion.
But clearly not carelessly so.
While motion is momentum, it is critical to slow down and be extra deliberate. Motion does not mean rushed ideas or impulsive action.
Stay flexible, centered, and build real stamina – mental, spiritual and physical—so you can maintain clarity and focus that will make the difference between propelling forward versus moving into more debt, more confusion and more of what we don’t want.
Let these words by Emerson guide you as they do me:
The sun shines after every storm;
There is a solution to every problem,
And the Soul’s highest duty is to be of good cheer.
May your renewal be deep and sustainable. Let’s rock on.
